Workshops and Master Classes for Singers
Since co-founding Klezkamp/The Yiddish Folk Arts Program at
the YIVO Institute with Henry Sapoznik 25 years ago, Adrienne
has shaped the teaching of Yiddish song to new generations of musicians. Besides teaching repertoire workshops and conducting master classes at Klezkamp, Adrienne worked with the American Jewish World Service’s Office for Russia and the Ukraine to design and conduct “Klezfest” instruction and performance programs throughout the former Soviet Union, reseeding Jewish music and performance practices, and nurturing a new generation of creative talent in programs conducted in St. Petersburg, Kiev, Moscow and Yevpatoria, on the Black Sea. She went on to direct the vocal program of the Jewish Music Institute’s London Klezfest, to teach at Klezkanada since its inception in 1996, and at the Weimar Klezmer Wochen. At home in New York, she offers private coaching for singers, most memorably coaching opera diva Marilyn Horne (via telephone), as Horne prepared to record a Yiddish lullabye.
